Locumlink History
Locumlink was established in 1999 by Dr. Michael Molloy former President of the Irish Medical Organisation and Rod Mc Govern a successful entrepreneur with extensive experience in the communications and customer service industries.
From the outset the objective was to bring the highest standards of proficiency and state-of-the-art technology to the provision of a unique medical locum service to Ireland's hospitals.
In its early years, Locumlink concentrated on short to medium-term locum cover for NCHD's and consultants to hospitals throughout Ireland but expanded to a comprehensive locum services across all healthcare sectors and now serves over ninety HSE hospitals and clinics nationwide as well as multiple private organisations.
Placements range from as little as five hours to periods of six months or more and Locumlink has developed excellent working relationships with almost all hospitals throughout the HSE network and thousands of locum vacancies are filled annually.
In addition, Locumlink successfully negotiated for the supply of locum cover to many private hospitals throughout Ireland and business on all fronts has continued to grow.
Further expansion has encompassed the surgeries and clinics of GPs to whom a fully-tailored service to meet precise needs is provided. This can include a subscription arrangement offering IT support and a rapid response service whilst minimising cost.
Surgeries requiring only occasional locum cover are also provided with a high level of service designed to meet their needs.
In 2006 Locumlink contracted to supply the entire out-sourced locum requirements of D-Doc, North Dublin's first out-of-hours GP co-operative with several centres across the North City. Locumlink assisted D-Doc in the placement of locum GPs during the set-up period and achieved 100% success by filling over 1500 individual posts during the first eighteen months. GP co-operatives throughout Ireland now avail of Locumlink's services and to keep ahead of ongoing demand recruitment centres in South Africa have been established. This enables well-qualified doctors to avail of excellent opportunities for employment in Ireland.
Having become the dominant provider of locum service in Ireland Locumlink turned its sights to the UK. Apart from some minor tuning of Locumlink's well-established Medical Management technology to accommodate differences between the HSE and NHS recruitment protocols and procedures, the extension of activity to the UK has been seamless and holds the promise of significant further growth.
Locumlink's investment in first class technology has paid off in many ways and it was a major factor in securing a three-year recruitment contract in December 2008 to provide both NCHD's and Consultants for short and medium-term positions in Belfast and South Eastern HSC Trusts which control the largest hospitals in Northern Ireland. Locumlink was the only company in the Republic of Ireland to win such a contract.
In November 2008 Locumlink diversified by establishing Ireland's first fully-automated online nursing agency. The service will sit easily on Locumlink's existing IT system enabling the provision of exceptional savings to clients without compromising the quality of service. Currently, a pilot scheme in the private sector is in operation prior to the extension of this nationwide service later this year. Preliminary reactions of healthcare management to Locumlink's Nurse Online Service are most encouraging.
In 2008, the National Recruitment Federation of Ireland awarded Locumlink the “The Best Recruitment Agency” in the Healthcare Sector in recognition of its achievements and quality of service.
