Overview of Clinical Genetics
Clinical Genetics is a medical specialty that receives referrals of all ages from all branches of medicine and surgery. Specific clinical activities are diagnosis of genetic disorders, risk estimation, genetic counselling, and support and management, especially in the light of genetic test results. The specialty also has an increasingly important role in areas such as education of other professionals and the public, in drawing up guidelines to good practice, providing expert advices, and in research and development.
